Todd, 60, of Hacienda Heights, will be retiring this next month.

“Los Angeles County was my first full-time, professional job,” said Todd. “I worked there for about eight years and left as a senior librarian to work for the city (of Los Angeles). I came back in 2001 and have worked with the county for the last 14 years.”

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will honor Todd for her service at Tuesday’s board meeting.

“I told them I really didn’t need anything,” Todd said. “I was told they were going to do it anyway, and I am very honored. It’s very sweet of them.”

Todd said her greatest achievement over the course of her career has been making sure the library stays up-to-date and relevant in today’s society.

“I love serving communities, and I really love to see when a library is an important part of the community and the lives they change,” said Todd. “I think I helped the staff transform our library into a 21st-century library successfully.”

Todd says she plans to move with her husband to Hawaii, where the couple recently bought a house.

“I am going to miss the people,” she said. “Los Angeles County has a great staff and some wonderful people in the community.”
