Playoff Football Ahead – Santa Clarita Sports Report – November 22nd

Santa Clarita Playoff Football

CIF Southern Section Division 7 Semifinal

4 West Ranch (10-2) vs 3 Temecula Valley (10-2)

The Wildcats will have had to prepare for a physical battle on the road at TVHS. The Golden Bears boast one of the most productive and lethal rushing attacks in the division with a 5.7 yards per carry average and 38 touchdowns on the ground this season.

But the Wildcats have perhaps the best quarterback out of the group of final four teams, junior Wlaker Eget, and he’s playing at the top of his game. Another high scoring game is a possibility down in Temecula.

CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs Round One

Saddleback (9-2) vs Canyons (8-2)

A rematch of the season opener in which Saddleback cruised to a 45-20 victory. The Cougars get another shot at the Gauchos at home in this playing opening round matchup.

It will be up to the defense to stop the Gauchos passing game that crushed them in the beginning of the season. Ben Seymore and Co. must get pressure on the quarterback. The Cougars have played much better with a lead than from behind this season, and falling behind by double digits early could spell the end of the season.

Kickoff from Cougar Stadium is scheduled for 6 pm on Saturday.

The Master’s University

Women’s Soccer: The Mustangs knocked out Truett McConnell 2-0 in today’s opening round game of the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship in West Palm Beach, Florida. Goals from Suzzanne Mabie and Kyndel Borman on either side of halftime were the difference.

Saturday, the Mustangs take on top-seeded Keiser University. Win and they advance to the Second Round in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Basketball: The Mustangs basketball teams are a combined 11-0 to start the season. The women’s team will compete in the Westmont Tournament this weekend with games against Antelope Valley and Our Lady of the Lake (Texas).
