Congresswoman Katie Hill, D-Agua Dulce, called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump Tuesday, as a growing number of representatives and the House speaker support the proceedings.
Hill “strongly supports” the House of Representatives moving forward with impeachment proceedings, the Congresswoman said in a statement Tuesday.
“I believe in our country, in the Constitution and in the checks and balances we have in place to protect our democracy,” Hill said. “Those rules have ensured that our government is and will always be of the people, by the people and for the people.”
The Congress member said she believes a “threshold has been crossed” by Trump and “those checks and balances are in jeopardy.”
Hill’s announcement shortly preceded Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to move forward with an inquiry into the impeachment for Trump.
“The president must be held accountable. No one is above the law,” Pelosi said in a press conference Tuesday.

The formal inquiry is the biggest step house Democrats have taken into the proceedings, with over 160 members of Congress in support of impeachment.
“My vote on articles of impeachment will not come lightly,” Hill said. “I acknowledge how divisive an issue this has been, and will be, as investigations move forward.”
Tuesday’s formal announcement follows Trump’s admission of discussing Vice President Joe Biden and his son in his phone call with the Ukrainian president.
“The actions of the Trump presidency revealed the dishonorable fact of the president’s betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections,” Pelosi said. “Therefore, today, I am announcing the House of Representatives moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry.”
Trump took to Twitter minutes after Pelosi’s announcement, calling it “more breaking news witch hunt garbage.”
Hill added, “If Congress confirms reports of egregious misconduct that threaten the security of our country or undermine faith in our democracy, I will vote to impeach the president.”

Unbelievable, I would love to hear of an actual accomplishment that Katie Hill has made that is part of the list of deliverable s that by law a congress person should be working on for their constituents. Soon myself and my peers that live in Agua Dulce none of whom voted for Katie Hill will see her time out and a real congress person will take back the district. In the near future fill-in votes will be outlawed and these voter fraud results will halt. Agua Dulce Residents would like to know when water will be run in for our use, wells have been siphoned off with more well legistration on tap (no pun) for the future. Adjacent towns allocate for water support and are approved to support 35000 new homes??? Katie can’t support the needs of plus minus 840 residences in her district with 20th century utility requirements.
