L.A. County Begins Sending Vote-By-Mail Ballots For 2020 Election

Los Angeles County has started mailing Vote-by-Mail ballots to all registered voters for the Presidential General Election in November, officials said Monday.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) began sending out vote-by-mail ballots for the 2020 election on Nov. 3.

A Vote-by-Mail ballot is set to be sent to every registered voter to ensure safe and accessible voting options during COVID-19, according to the registrar’s office.

Voters can track their ballot with Where’s My Ballot. This easy-to-use tracking tool sends voters automatic notifications when their ballot has left the post office and provides an estimated time of arrival.

The RR/CC encourages voters to safely participate in this election returning their mail-in ballot early. There are several safe return options available:

  • Return by mail, no postage required – must be postmarked by Election Day
  • Drop off at any Vote-by-Mail Drop Box – Oct. 5 Nov. 3
  • Drop off at any Vote Center – Oct. 24 – Nov. 3

All public health and safety guidelines will be followed, and voters will be required to wear a facial covering, according to the county.

For those not yet registered to vote, the deadline to register in California is Oct. 19. Registration can be done online at this site.

Registration status can be checked using the County’s election information site, as well as allowing access to electronic sample ballots, and a tracker for mail-in ballots.

Also included in the election information site are the locations of the 13 drop-off stations for those who choose to drop off their mail-in ballots within Santa Clarita, as well as one in both Acton and Agua Dulce.

In addition to mailing in and dropping off mail-in ballots, in-person polling locations are to open as early as Oct. 24.

Three Santa Clarita polling places are set to be open from Oct. 24 through Nov. 3, while another 16 polling places are scheduled to be open from Oct. 30 through Nov. 3. Polling places also act as mail-in ballot drop-off locations.
