Furthering his push to ensure the United States remains the world’s leading economic power amidst the rise of China, Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, delivered remarks on the importance of staying ahead of the rising superpower on all fronts on Thursday.
During the bipartisan and bicameral Conference Committee on Innovation and Competitiveness on Thursday, Garcia responded to the American jobs and China competitiveness legislation aiming to create high-paying jobs, bolster the supply chain and boost the development of new technologies.
“I’m going to start by saying something that may be controversial to some, but China is not our friend,” Garcia said during the conference. “These aren’t good people leading the Chinese Communist regime. They are conducting one of the largest genocides that our globe has seen.”
On the Conference Committee, Garcia serves as a representative of the House Science, Space and Technology (SST) Committee, which is negotiating legislation to combat China and increase American competitiveness.
“We can’t do anything that appeases them and ultimately, we should not pass anything that enables them,” Garcia said. “If we do that, we’re doing it wrong… I look forward to putting party politics aside through this process, and if we get to the right legislation, we should treat this as a must pass.”
The conference committee is faced with the complicated task of reconciling the Senate and House passed versions of The America COMPETES Act, and Garcia is “honored to be a part of this very important process.”
“The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is actively attempting to supplant the United States as the driving force in science and technology,” Garcia said. “To achieve this, the CCP has actually targeted American basic research at our universities and our businesses, and they’ve embarked on a systemic campaign to steal American intellectual property.”
The economic injury of this process and this campaign to steal our IP, according to Garcia, amounts to roughly $400 billion to $600 billion per year and they orchestrate cyber-attacks that threaten to cripple American businesses and infrastructure in parallel.
In June of 2021, the House SST committee passed multiple bipartisan measures to invest in American innovation, counter Chinese cyber-attacks and improve intellectual property security throughout the research enterprise, according to Garcia.
“Unfortunately, nearly a year was wasted in delaying conferencing, the House and Senate passed bills,” Garcia said. “And to make matters worse when the House finally did act the Speaker chose to put poison pills into the good work of the SST bill by including unrelated and frankly harmful provisions that actually diminish our competitiveness with China and enable China: funneling more money into slush funds such as the UN climate change fund and adding sense of Congress language provisions which actually don’t protect us from this very existential Chinese threat.”

Let’s be clear, as long as party lines are played AMERICA continues to be divided. Yes, China IS NOT our friend, and I certainly hope Garcia & all Americans know FAHN Putin IS NOT our friend! We owe China money. Basically, I don’t think AMERICA should be borrowing money from other countries, especially communists! It would be a good idea not to sell any American land only to Americans. I’m not expecting to see world peace when we do little to eradicate dictators from power hungry countries.

You know who else who else who deals with this clown, members of our own government, so-called philanthropists (the most misused word in the English language) such as Bill Gates, and our out of control intelligence community. Think infiltration, not invasion! We are sending 40 billion dollars to a country that has so much corruption (Hunter Biden ring a bell) you can throw a 2 x 4 at. Meanwhile, our American moms can’t get baby formula to their children, is it starting to sink in, and Garcia voting for this! And, you Christy Smith voters don’t say a word because she would have voted for this monstrosity without reading it either. But, I don’t want to argue with you because we are all victims of our own government’s BS. Lastly, if you honestly believe that a great reset where you own nothing and like it is going to be great for our children’s future, you are not very bright to begin with, and you need to start seeing the big picture for D’s, R’s, Independents, and Libertarians.
