Representative Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, wrote an article to FOX News memorializing the servicemembers lost during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal one year ago.
“One year after the Afghanistan withdrawal, I reflect on the lives lost. These 13 servicemembers, and the thousands more Afghan lives that were lost, should serve as a reminder to all of us of what failed leadership can lead to,” wrote Garcia.
Garcia went on to condemn the actions of the Biden administration leading up to the withdrawal, stating that the failure hurt the nation’s credibility, relationships and trust.
“Through my nearly 20 years in the military, I saw operations succeed and operations fail. It does not take a master of tactics or strategy to know that you shouldn’t tell your enemy your plans,” said Garcia. “But by announcing publicly our hard withdrawal date, that is exactly what the Biden administration did. The entire world witnessed the disastrous outcomes that followed from the ill-advised and misinformed decision.”
In the article Garcia often mentions the importance of remembering the 13 soldiers who were killed overseas during the operation, extending sympathies to the families of the soldiers.
“One year later, our country is still recovering from this heartbreaking tragedy. Those 13 families still mourn the loss of their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, grandsons and granddaughters,” said Garcia.

What a hypocrite…
First of all, the situation in Afghanistan was inherited from Biden’s predecessor.
Second, NOTHING damaged the credibility of the United States as a leading superpower and beacon of democracy more than the man that made a mockery of the office of POTUS for the 4 years prior to Biden.
Third, the loss of our 13 service personnel was most certainly tragic, and their loss should be mourned and their lives and sacrifice should be remembered. But let’s also keep in mind that these brave men and women answered the call to put themselves in harm’s way… the 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, TX, did not… yet he continues to support an industry that promulgates these regular mass shootings. “One year later, our country is still recovering from this heartbreaking tragedy… ” Is he going to write these words on the anniversary date of every mass shooting that has taken – and will continue to take – more lives than those he has written about in this article?
Last, if he is so concerned for the welfare of those serving our country, please help me understand why the members of his party in the US Senate recently voted UNANIMOUSLY to DENY service members who had been exposed to hazardous materials the benefits to treat these men and women – and then celebrated their victory on the Senate floor with fist bumps?!

Last September, flags were flown at halfstaff in observance of the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attack on US soil. In the days following that horrific loss of American lives, we came together, not as Democrats or Republicans, not as right wing or left… but as Americans.
What in the world happened?
America has always been divided… which is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as it’s healthy conflict with respect. Since the end of the Civil War, only four presidential elections have been decided by more than 60% of the popular vote… and no election was decided by more than 61.1% of the popular vote. What has driven Americans apart were the lies (over 30,000 false or misleading claims during his presidency) fed to the public by a man who not only made a mockery of the office of the President of the United States, but in a gross dereliction of duty not only failed, but refused to keep his oath – his covenant before God and Americans – to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” as the US Capitol fell under attack by his supporters, and did nothing for more than three hours to address those supporters and abate the situation… lies about affairs and other personal indiscretions… lies about a pandemic that raged across the US… lies about a stolen election, which are STILL being promoted. Then there was the mockery of those who not only serve, or have served their country in the armed forces, but also those who were captured or killed in the service of their country. He called them losers. “What was in it for them?” he asked… he didn’t understand… it wasn’t about them… a concept completely foreign to this man.
So, when you request prayer for the country, what does this mean?
Does this mean prayer that things would go the way you and others who share your beliefs think they should go? Does this mean prayer for ALL of our country – every state – regardless of political affiliation? Or does it mean that some states should prosper, and some states should perish, based on their political affiliation?
Or do you have truly a sincere heart for the country and ALL of its leadership? After all… if you pray for your city’s mayor because you support their policies… and you pray for your governor and other state leaders because you support their policies… and you pray for your US congressional representatives and senators because you support their policies… but you do NOT pray for the President of the United States (yes, he IS your President,whether you voted for him or not), that he would be granted wisdom for the leadership of the country – an awesome responsibility – then you are just another hypocrite. Am I wrong? Go ahead… tell me if I’m wrong. It’s okay… you can have that opinion… and I will understand you will be angry because you have no basis for that opinion.
Politics, economics,and religion are three institutions created by man to keep people living in fear. Politics and religion are very similar… organized religion produces doctrines, a box within which others are expected to behave. If you step outside the boundaries of that box, you are judged harshly. Similarly, politics produces platforms and policies, which others are expected to blindly follow. This who do not follow the policies you follow become your enemy.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” In ALL things… not SOME things. You either believe this, or you do not. ALL things would include the election of leaders that you and I do not necessarily support… but it is still our responsibility – and privilege – as Christians to not only support these leaders in prayer, but to encourage them in prayer as well.
To my evangelical Christian neighbors who demonize Democrats (or the “liberals” or the “left” or however you want to label them)… when you arrive at the gates of Heaven:
God: Did you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength?

Mark 12:30-31 (as well as other Gospels) tells us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
So where is your heart? Do you love Him? Do you love and pray for your neighbor? Are you called according to His purpose? There is no halfway… you either are, or you are not. If you are, then you know what you are called to do. It really is that simple.
