The Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum Friday in Valencia.
On Friday, the Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce hosted a forum at College of the Canyons (COC) to get to know several of the candidates running this year.
“We put on forums like this because we want to make sure that the candidates are hearing the businesses and issues of this community,” said John Musella, Chief Advocacy Officer of The Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce.
City Council District 1:
- Tim Burkhart
- Patsy Ayala
State Assembly:
- Patrick Lee Gibson
- Pilar Schiavo
State Senate:
- Kipp Mueller
- Suzette Valladeres
During the forum attendees had the opportunity to hear from the candidates and learn their positions on key issues affecting Santa Clarita businesses.
“So at the end of the day this is about voting for people who truly care about a district but more importantly know our district and know the struggles of our district,” said Suzette Valladares, 21st District Senate candidate.
Following the forum, candidates, members of the water board and Congressman Mike Garcia and challenger George Whitesides were available for a meet and greet for all guests.
“We really prioritise issues people care about in this community and I’m very passionate about making sure we are putting more money into people’s pocket books. We’ve done that through just our case work alone,” said Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo.
