Senator Scott Wilk Calls For Audit Of California’s Personal Protective Equipment

Senator Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, announced Wednesday he and a group of other lawmakers have requested the Joint Legislative Audit Committee perform a thorough audit of the state’s personal protective equipment (PPE), officials said.

On Wednesday, Senator Wilk issued the following statement in regards to the audit.

“The critical needs facing California to stop the spread of the pandemic do not remove government’s obligation to be transparent with the spending of taxpayer dollars,” Wilk said. “Just last week the details of these multi-million dollar contracts were released and there are legitimate questions. A thorough audit will shed light on the decision-making process and provide much needed transparency.”

As California, and Santa Clarita are moving forward in limiting the spread of the coronavirus, Wilk wants to make sure that the government spends all tax dollars wisely, according to officials.

“As California moves forward in addressing this pandemic, the government has a responsibility to adhere to the statutes in place to ensure there is no waste of taxpayer dollars,” Wilk said.
