Certain Southern California DMV offices are set to open an hour earlier to help people get their REAL IDs before the May 7 deadline.
The Newhall DMV office has not made an official announcement about its hours, but two locations in the San Fernando Valley are planning to extend their hours.
The Van Nuys office at 14920 Vanowen Street and the Arleta office at 14400 Van Nuys Boulevard are stated to have extended morning hours.
To help expedite the process, the DMV made the extension to begin on April 14 and end on June 27, with the offices set to open earlier at 7 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, according to the DMV. The extended hours will not be on Wednesday.
Santa Clarita residents are able to apply for the REALID online as well, but are still required to go to the DMV to complete the process. Applicants are to provide a valid passport or birth certificate, a social security number and proof of California residency. The DMV charges $45 for a REAL ID.
