Gas Leak Evacuates Construction Site In Canyon Country

A natural gas leak has prompted the evacuation of an apartment complex in Canyon Country Wednesday afternoon.

Around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a gas leak in an apartment complex under construction in the 28400 block of Whites Canyon Road in Canyon Country, said Henry Narvaez, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“We arrived on scene and determined there was a gas leak,” Narvaez said.

A three-inch gas pipe was broken, according to officials on scene.

As of 12:40 p.m., all workers have been evacuated from the building.

  1. This seems like an apt community that is not being built well. When we had all the heavy rains late last year and early on this year there were huge crevices in the dirt hill on the end buildings closest to Skyline Rd. This could be a simple error but still after watching this eyesore being built and the issues with that crevice, it makes one wonder. Not to mention it that looks very ugly and sterile and doesn’t go well with the surrounding homes. Can’t wait for affordable housing to be here.

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
