On Wednesday morning, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station (SCV Sheriff) are set to be on the lookout for motorcycle safety violations.
Between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, deputies are scheduled to conduct a Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation in the City of Santa Clarita, when they are set to be on the lookout for traffic violations by drivers and motorcyclists.
“The top primary crash factors for motorcycles are unsafe speed, improper turning, right-of-way violations, driving under the influence and unsafe lane changes,” said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the SCV Sheriff’s Station. “Speeding is the most common, accounting for nearly a third of all crashes in the state.”
Motorcycles can easily be hidden in blind spots, according to Arriaga.
Sheriff’s officials recommend keeping a safe distance from motorcycles on the road and looking for riders before changing lanes.
“When riding a motorcycle, be sure to stay visible by wearing bright clothing and a light-colored helmet, wear proper riding gear including a full-face helmet, make a habit of doing a pre-ride check ensuring everything is in working order, and be extra careful when traveling between lanes,” said Arriaga. “Whether you are riding a motorcycle, or driving a car, make sure to keep a #HeadsUp and avoid added distraction like cell phone use.”
Motorcycle riders are encouraged to enroll in the Motorcyclist Safety Program.

Can they please also target cars with too dark window tint. There are so many cars out there where you can’t see the driver because the tint is so dark.
That is a victimless crime. YOU do not have a legal need to see me inside my car. I would rather have LEO’S chasing criminals.
Hope they cite more cell phone addicts while driving!
