Earlier this year, the first phase was completed and sidewalk gaps were bridged along the north side of pedestrian-busy Soledad Canyon Road, between Langside Drive and the bridge over the river at Camp Plenty Road. Phase two of the sidewalk project is currently in progress.
Sidewalks are concrete passageways that serve a vital role in connecting Santa Clarita residents safely throughout the community. As part of the effort to maintain the city’s infrastructure and to provide more accessible walking paths in neighborhoods, the city of Santa Clarita launched the multi-year Sidewalk Gap Closure Project.
The next step in the project will include improvements along the south side of Soledad Canyon Road between River Circle Drive and Miss Grace Drive. The project is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2016.
“By filling in the gaps along sidewalks that are frequently used by our residents, we’re building our pedestrian network and offering safe and alternative routes for residents to move safely through the city,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
