Red Flag Warning In Effect Friday

High winds compound high fire conditions.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect in the Santa Clarita Valley
today, where gusty northeast winds and low relative humidity, creating critical
fire weather conditions.

Although rains last weekend and earlier this week brought
needed moisture to the area, the amounts were not sufficiently high to reduce
the overall critical fuel conditions.

The warning is accompanied by a wind advisory because of a
strong high pressure system that has moved into the basin. Both the Red Flag
Warning and wind advisory are expected to be lifted late Friday afternoon.
