The KHTS high school football Game of the Week broadcast brings you Canyon vs Hart in the 50th year anniversary of this great rivalry at College of the Canyons, tonight. The Vargo Physical Therapy Pregame show begins at 7:15 with kickoff at 7:30.

Canyon vs Hart. Hart/Canyon. This longstanding rivalry now spans the course of 50 years, with many great names, such as Longshore and Boller.

Incredibly, the record since 2004 is an even 7-7, with the Indians having taken the past four contests. Before that, it was the Cowboys who owned their rival in the early part of the decade and throughout the previous one.

Canyon comes into this game reeling from two big losses to open league play. Defensively, they’ve struggled to take away the big play from their opponents, and Ryan Camacho (West Ranch) gashed the Cowboys for 398 total yards last week in a 46-14 loss. They’ve given up at least three plays of 50+ yards in back-to-back weeks.

However, the Hart Indians problem has been just that offensively: inability to generate chunk plays to move the ball downfield in a hurry. With just 14 points in two weeks, Hart sits at the bottom of the league in scoring for Foothill League games. They have zero plays of 50+ yards in those games.

This looks to be a tight matchup that will undoubtedly come down to one or two big time plays to tilt the game. Which team will come up big in the old Cowboys and Indians rivalry? Find out tonight in the KHTS Game of the Week on your hometown station KHTS FM 98.1.
