Hart High School alumnus and current NFL free agent Trenton Irwin visited KHTS to discuss his upcoming youth camp.
Now in its fourth year, Irwin’s camp will take place at his alma mater, Hart High School, for the second time. Open to boys and girls in grades five through eight, the camp is set for March 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A $20 registration fee is required, with all proceeds benefiting victims of the Eaton Fire.
Irwin strongly encourages girls to participate, noting the rise of girls’ football.
“I’ve known a lot of girls that have played some tackle with me when I was young,” Irwin shared. “It’s cool to see some colleges even picking up flag football for girls and have teams and incentives.”
Currently, Irwin plans to have the boys and girls train together unless there is a substantial number of female campers.
Campers will have the opportunity to train with current and former NFL players while receiving shirts, drinks, snacks, posters, autographs, and more!
“Hopefully [campers] learn to love the game, run around and have some fun, compete and learn some life lessons,” said Irwin. “At the end of the day, we’re just out there in the sun running around.”
