Week 3 is officially in the books, and with out-of-league play wrapped up, teams across the Foothill League are gearing up for the heart of the 2025 season. Some squads are red-hot, while others are still searching for answers.
Here’s a team-by-team breakdown of where each program stands heading into Foothill League play:
Saugus Centurions (4-0)
The Centurions are off to a stunning 4-0 start — the only undefeated team remaining in the Foothill League. After going just 2-18 over the past two seasons combined, Saugus has already doubled that win total in 2025.
They’ve cruised past Buena, Oak Park, and Hueneme by scores of 35-16, 51-19, and 46-0, respectively. Their only close call came in week 3, where they edged out Camarillo 30-27.
The offense has been electric, scoring 30 or more points in every game so far. But the true test begins now, as Saugus kicks off league play with a tough three-game road stretch against Hart, Valencia, and Canyon, before returning home to finish the season against West Ranch, Castaic, and Golden Valley.
The turnaround has already been remarkable, but the Centurions are hungry for more starting this Friday at Hart.
Valencia Vikings (3-1)
The Vikings are aiming for a third straight Foothill League title and their 13th since 2009 and they’re off to a strong start.
Valencia opened with a dominant 28-7 win over Simi Valley and pulled off an impressive 34-20 upset on the road against Chaminade. Their lone loss came in a shootout against Bishop Amat, falling 42-38 in a thriller that went down to the wire.
They bounced back in a wild one against Paraclete, where they led 40-14 at halftime, gave up 27 unanswered points, and needed a late 25-yard TD from Brian Bonner to seal a 47-44 win.
Valencia has scored 28+ points in every game this season and will open league play on Sept. 19 against West Ranch. The Vikings ride a 13-game Foothill League win streak heading into the matchup.
Hart Hawks (2-2)
It’s been an up-and-down ride for the Hawks through four games.
They opened with a 24-14 loss at Birmingham but rebounded with a 49-0 shutout over Burroughs. Paraclete then handed them a humbling 47-21 defeat, but Hart bounced back yet again with a 49-34 shootout win over previously unbeaten Heritage Christian.
Hart opens Foothill League play at home with back-to-back games against Saugus and Golden Valley, before heading on the road to face West Ranch.
West Ranch Wildcats (1-3)
West Ranch faced a brutal non-league slate to start the season — Pacifica, Bishop Diego, Antelope Valley, and Thousand Oaks — with three of those teams still undefeated.
They were heavily outscored in losses to Pacifica (59-17), Bishop Diego (42-6), and Thousand Oaks (49-15). Their lone win came in week 2 with a 23-13 victory over Antelope Valley.
Quarterback Blake Johnson is still finding his rhythm after missing the start of the season due to injury. Despite the rocky start, a top-three finish in league play would be enough to secure a playoff berth and that goal is still within reach.
They start off Foothill League play against Valencia on Friday.
Golden Valley Grizzlies (1-3)
The Grizzlies share a similar story to West Ranch, sitting at 1-3 after a tough non-league schedule.
They took big losses to undefeated Westlake (38-14) and Crespi (41-16), and fell 56-12 to Lancaster. Their lone win came in week 3 — a convincing 34-13 victory over South Pasadena.
Golden Valley opens league play at home this Friday against Canyon at 7 p.m.
Canyon Cowboys (0-4)
The Cowboys are still searching for their first win of the season, struggling on both sides of the ball through four games.
Their defense has given up at least 29 points in every contest, with losses to Charter Oak (49-7), Buena (44-30), Kennedy (29-21), and Crespi (58-0). Still, running back Keyshawn Wooten has been a bright spot, averaging an impressive 141 rushing yards per game.
Canyon kicks off league play this Friday against Golden Valley.
Castaic Coyotes (0-4)
Growing pains continue for the Coyotes, who remain winless heading into league play. They’ve been outscored 164-13 over four games, with losses to Adelanto (23-7), Calabasas (47-6), San Joaquin Memorial (49-0), and Dominguez (45-0).
Castaic gets a bye this week before hosting Canyon on Sept. 26.
