Santa Clarita High School Boys Basketball

The lone Foothill League team in action tonight is No. 9 West Ranch (3-2), traveling to Division 4A No. 1 Viewpoint for its toughest road test to date. Tip-off is at 7 pm.

Santa Clarita High School Girls Basketball

Two Foothill League teams hit the hard court tonight.

The No. 3 Canyon Cowboys (5-1) get a visit from South Pasadena, tip-off at 5 pm. The Cowboys will look to extend their winning streak to three straight.

After dropping their first game of the season the newly minted #15 team in D2 AA West Ranch Wildcats (5-1) have won five consecutive games and are away at Royal High School with a good opportunity to keep it rolling. Tip-off is at 6:30 pm.

Santa Clarita High School Boys Soccer

Saugus is off to a hot start, winners of four out of their first five matches to open the season. The Centurions should bounce back from last week’s loss this afternoon as they host a struggling Westlake side they defeated 3-1 two weeks ago in the Burroughs Tournament. Kickoff is at 3:15 pm from Saugus.

Canyon will hit the pitch against Notre Dame at 5 pm. The Cowboys won their first match of the season and have since gone 0-1-2 in the past three games. Three points are up for grabs this evening.

Santa Clarita High School Girls Soccer

There’s been a few early surprises for some Foothill League teams.

It’s still early in the non-league portion of the schedule, but the Hart Indians are certainly battling through some early-season adversity. Preseason ranked third in Division II, the Indians (1-2-3) have just one win in six attempts and have plummeted down the CIF-SS rankings to a tie for 10th.

The Indians head to Sherman Oaks today in search of their form. Kickoff at Notre Dame is at 5 pm.

Valencia (1-1-1) enters the heaviest portion of its non-league schedule today with a home match against Newbury Park at 6 pm. Newbury Park is unbeaten (2-2) in its last four matches.

Tournament play at Buena High School begins today for the Saugus Centurions (2-1-1). They face Santa Paula today (6 pm) and Pacifica tomorrow in the group stage.

Golden Valley (3-2) has had nearly a full week off since its 3-0 victory over Crean Lutheran to close out the Best in the West Tournament last Saturday. The Grizzlies are back in action this afternoon against visiting Chatsworth with a 2:30 start.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers do battle on the hard court tonight with the Houston Rockets. Tip-off is at 7:30 from Staples Center.
