Santa Clarita Sports Report -July 6, 2018

High School Summer League

Valley Invitational Baseball League

Hart: 3

Woodland Hills West: 2

The Indians moved past Saugus in the VIBL standings with the win over first place Woodland Hills West. Hart is 9-4-1.

Los Angeles Dodgers

About seven weeks ago, the Dodgers and Angels appeared headed in different directions. The Dodgers were reeling to a 16-26 record with several prominent players on the disabled list. The Angels, at 25-18, were right on the heels of the Houston Astros and Shohei Ohtani was the talk of the early season.

Things are a bit different now.

The Dodgers have stormed all the way back into a tie for first with the Diamondbacks in the NL West. They’ve gone an impressive 31-13 since that woeful start.

Now, the Angels are the ones decimated by injury, and spiraling further downward to a 44-44 record.

These teams will play six times in the next ten days. Major opportunities abound.

Kenta Maeda takes the mound tonight against Felix Pena. Pena is making just his fourth career start. First pitch from Angel Stadium in Anaheim is at 7:07.
