Santa Clarita Sports Report – November 15, 2017

CIF State Playoff Volleyball

The SCCS Cardinals, who lost to Glendale Adventist in the CIF SS D9 championship game, earned a 5-seed in the 32 team Division 5 State championship tournament beginning tonight.

TMU Basketball

Women’s Basketball: Hannah Forrar scored 19 points to lead the Mustangs to a 88-61 over winless Bethesda. Masters is 2-1 and competes in the Jersey Mike’s Fall Classic hosted by TMU Friday with a game against Montana Tech.

Men’s Basketball: The Mustangs dominated Bethesda, 113-50, for their second 40+ point win in a row. Six players scored in double figures, led by Brock Gardner with 24 points (5-for-5 from 3 pt). Masters is 3-1 on the season and get another crack at Antelope Valley on Friday at home.

Los Angeles Lakers

Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers are in town for the 2016 No. 1 pick’s first time facing the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Sixers (7-6) handed the LA Clippers their sixth consecutive loss on Monday in 109-105 win. Joel Embiid led the way with 32 points.

The Lakers will look to counter the 1-2 of Embiid and Simmons with Lonzo Ball and budding star Kyle Kuzma.

Tip-off from Staples Center is at 7:30
