When in doubt, do not snap the ball.

The newest edition of the CIF-SS football rankings were released yesterday and the 6-1 Hart Indians are knocking on the door of the Top Five in the West Valley Division. The Indians sat at 8th when Foothill League play began and have crept up one spot each week since, and are now #6.

For the first time this season (and in history as an 11-man team) the Santa Clarita Valley has two of its teams ranked by CIF, with the big win for the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals over previously #8 Webb enough to vault them into a tie for 10th in the East Valley Division.

Both teams will look to push further up the top ten with games this coming Friday.

All of the Foothill League is in action today.

Undefeated and #7 ranked Valencia (5-0) is on the road at West Ranch (3-2) this evening. The Vikings have cruised through their first five Foothill victories, dropping just one set out of 16.

It will be a tall challenge for the Wildcats, who have beaten up on the rest of the Foothill League not named Hart or Valencia.

Hart High School (4-1) will be looking to get back on track with a home match against winless Canyon High School after a disappointing performance at Valencia last Thursday.

The Indians did not reach 20 points in any of the three sets against Valencia, and must improve offensively before their next showdown with the favorites.

Battling for a shot at third place and a Wild Card berth are 4th and 5th place Saugus and Golden Valley, respectively. Both teams are looking up at West Ranch currently, and have to make a move in the 2nd half of the league season starting tonight, with the Centurions hosting the Grizzlies.

With the Heritage League nearing its end and the Division 5AA playoffs on the horizon, #1 Santa Clarita Christian (3-1) is firmly entrenched as the class of the division, undefeated in league play while only dropping one set.

Santa Clarita hosts Lancaster Baptist this evening looking to keep the streak alive.

TCA (2-1) has one clear goal, and that is to get to their next rivalry match with SCCS with just the lone league loss against them to avenge. That starts this afternoon with the 3-1 Faith Baptist visiting the Knights.

Santa Clarita Cross Country

The Lady Centurions continue to dominate the CIF-SS rankings, sitting atop Division 2 the entire season.

Saugus has long established itself as the premiere XC school in the Santa Clarita Valley, which makes some people gasp when they look at the boys rankings and see that the Centurions have fallen to #9.

But for the Foothill League XC aficionados, it will be noted that the boys division has been very competitive this season, as West Ranch has ascended to #5 and Golden Valley enters the top 15 at #13.
