KHTS High School Football Game of the Week
Saugus 7 (7-1, 1-2)
Valencia 28 (6-2, 3-0)
Moises Haynes scored his 12th touchdown of the season to open the scoring in the first quarter.
Centurions forced Aaron Thomas into two first-half interceptions but couldn’t capitalize on the Valencia mistakes.
With under a minute to play in the first half, Aaron Thomas threw a 40-yard TD pass to Brendan Adam.
Early in the fourth quarter the Centurions finally converted a Valencia turnover, a fumble off of a punt, and Nate Eldridge threw a 61 yard TD strike to Daniel Gilmartin, Gilmartin’s seventh on the season to cut the lead in half.
Valencia responded with a 92-yard TD drive after the Saugus touchdown and then intercepted Saugus on the very next play, scoring quickly. Two touchdowns within a minute pushed the score to 28-7.

Golden Valley 31 (5-3, 1-2)
Canyon 23 (4-4, 0-3)
Josh Valano connected with Jalin Lewis for the first touchdown of the game and Gabriel Coronado added a field goal to give Golden Valley an early 10-0 lead.
Miles Fallin found Camden Apsay for a short touchdown pass to get Canyon on the board in the second quarter.
Golden Valley opened the game with 17 unanswered points and Canyon answered with 17 unanswered points of their own after Brandon Wilson scored from 49 yards out on the opening drive of the third quarter.
Tai Brown helped the Grizzlies pull away in the second half with two of his three touchdowns to put the Grizzlies up 31-17. He and KJ Maduike combined for 200 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Miles Fallin got the Cowboys to within one score, but they could not complete the comeback. For the second consecutive year Golden Valley knocked off Canyon.

West Ranch 7 (4-4, 1-2)
Hart 45 (6-2, 2-1)
Nick Moore scores on a 10-yard scamper for his fifth straight rushing touchdown to put the Indians on top and added a 42-yard touchdown pass to Chase Garcia to extend the lead to 14-0 in the second quarter.
Moore continued to throw touchdown passes throughout the game for the highest point total in the Foothill League this week.
Wyatt Eget got the Wildcats on the board in the third quarter with a seven yard touchdown pass, but the Indians were able to shut down WR running back Jake Rice (16 carries for 20 yards), taking away the strength of their offense.

Fairmont Prep 35
Santa Clarita Christian 42 (4-4, 3-0)
The Cardinals took down Fairmont in a shootout Saturday night at Canyon High School, and have climbed all the way back to .500 after starting the season 0-4 and are undefeated in the San Joaquin League.
Look no further than the SCCS offense when thinking about their turnaround. The Cards are averaging 43.5 points per game and have come alive offensively.

Rio Hondo Prep 39
Trinity 0 (3-5, 0-1)
Trinity’s struggles continued Saturday in its first-ever 11-man football league game against Rio Hondo in the Prep League.
The Knights managed just 125 total yards of offense in their shutout loss.
Santa Clarita High School Volleyball
Saugus (17-16) went 3-3 over the weekend in the Crescenta Valley Tournament with wins over Glendale, La Canada and Pioneer Valley.
COC Football
Canyons felt the thrill of victory for the first time in six weeks with Saturday’s 26-10 win at Moorpark.
Former Hart Indian wideout Ethan Lazarek put his mark on the game with just two catches, both going for touchdowns (15 yards and 68 yards).
The win pulls the Cougars to an even 1-1 in the WSC and they’ll travel to Cerritos next Saturday.
TMU Soccer
Men’s soccer is unbeaten (3-0-1) in its last four matches after a 3-0 win over Menlo to move to 5-2-1 in GSAC play.
Disappointing for the Mustangs women’s team, whose own five-match unbeaten streak was snapped by Menlo, 2-0. The women are 4-3-1 in GSAC play.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers exited the NLCS in disappointing fashion, shutout 5-0 Saturday night at Wrigley Field, making it three consecutive losses after going up 2-1 in the series.
Los Angeles was outscored 23-6 in games 4-6.
