Santa Clarita Sports Report – October 29, 2015

Santa Clarita sports report, October 29, 2015. This is your place for Santa Clarita’s high school football and fall 2015 sports. Find all the latest news and updates on your hometown schools here as they compete in the Western State Conference, Foothill League, Heritage League and GSAC.

Santa Clarita High School Volleyball

It’s the penultimate game in the Foothill League today for each school.

Classic trap game scenarios for Valencia and Hart; they’ll both hit the road to the bottom two teams in the league.

Valencia will take on Canyon and Hart will face Golden Valley.

West Ranch visits Saugus, looking to climb above .500 in the Foothill League for the first time this season and maintain their grasp on 3rd place.

2015 World Series

The Kansas City Royals are taking a commanding 2-0 Series lead to Shea Stadium after crushing the New York Mets, 7-1 on Wednesday night.

Royals starter Johnny Cueto had questions surrounding him after uneven performances throughout the postseason, but silenced the critics in a big way. In perhaps the best game of his career the ace was dominant, tossing a complete game, allowing just one run on two hits.

The Mets now go home down 2-0 needing a jolt from the Shea faithful. They’ll put young power right-arm Noah Syndergaard on the mound Friday night against Yordano Ventura. First pitch is at 5:07PM.

Los Angeles Lakers

Lakers fans are going to need to get used to ignoring the scoreline this season and focus on the bright spots this team will have with exciting, young players getting in the mix.

Because if last night is any indication, another year of brutal beats is ahead of them.

Leading by seven heading to the 4th quarter, the Lakers began to self-destruct. Timberwolves’ point guard Ricky Rubio then took over in the final quarter and Minnesota eventually held on for a 112-111 victory.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in scoring (per usual), but was woefully inefficient shooting 8-24 for 24 points.

LA gets a travel day up the Golden State Freeway (5 North) and will play the Sacramento Kings tomorrow night.
