Santa Clarita High School Volleyball

The Saugus Centurions battled tough in the first two sets (21-25, 23-25) but ultimately ran out of gas in the third frame, falling to Village Christian at home, 3-0. Caitlin Liebe led Saugus offensively with 13 kills.

Thursday’s girls volleyball schedule:

Hart (4-0) vs La Canada (5pm)

Royal vs Saugus (3-3) (5:30pm)

Valencia (0-2) vs Thousand Oaks (6pm)

Desert Christian vs SCCS (2-3) (5pm)

The Master’s University

The Mustangs went down early after a fifth minute goal by Marymount had them on their heals, but it’s a 90-minute game for a reason.

Elijah Panaigua scored in the 86th minute to rescue a draw for TMU in a physical game that saw five yellow cards (three for TMU).

TMU is now 3-2-1.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Yasiel Puig has hit two home runs in three games since being recalled to the Dodgers this past weekend. Wednesday night, the contentious outfielder hit a sacrifice fly for the go-ahead RBI and added the insurance run with a solo shot in the sixth inning for the 3-1 victory and a sweep of Arizona.

It was a bullpen effort on the mound to secure the win, with manager Dave Roberts deploying seven relievers to get the job done after five solid innings from the rookie Brock Stewart.

Thursday is a travel day for the Dodgers. Friday is a momentous occasion for the club and fans alike.

Clayton Kershaw makes his triumphant return to the mound against Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins.

Los Angeles Dodgers 79-60

San Francisco Giants 74-65 (5 GB)
