Saugus Girls Lacrosse Head Coach Chris Quinlan Steps Down After Four Seasons

The Saugus High School girls lacrosse program announced that head coach Chris Quinlan is stepping down after four seasons leading the Centurions.

The announcement was made in an Instagram post from the program, thanking Quinlan for his years of service and commitment to building the team.

“For the past four years, Coach Chris Quinlan has poured his time, energy, and heart into our girls lacrosse program,” the post read. “Even after his own daughter graduated, he chose to stay and continue coaching to help make sure this team and this program were in a great place.”

Quinlan leaves the program following a successful 2025 season in which Saugus finished 15-4 overall and 4-2 in Foothill League play, placing second in league standings. The Centurions also advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

Beyond the results on the field, coaches and players pointed to Quinlan’s leadership and investment in the program as a lasting part of his legacy.

Assistant coach Madison Pena said Quinlan played a major role in making her transition onto the coaching staff successful.

“Coach Chris made my coaching transition so smooth, which played a contributing factor in my return,” Pena said. “He is extremely selfless, serves others well, and gave me the space and support to lead the team in the way I thought would best influence the program. I’m very grateful for our time coaching together.”

Team captain Caroline Doran reflected on Quinlan’s commitment to helping players improve while maintaining a positive environment.

“Coach Chris always went above and beyond for us and constantly put in extra time to make us a better team,” Doran said. “He has pushed us to be the best players we could be but still loved to joke around and have fun.”

Senior Piper McGee, while reflecting, said Quinlan’s support extended beyond competition.

“Coach Chris always made me feel appreciated and he had my back when it was needed,” McGee said. “He truly helped our team come together this season and we were all glad to have him around.”

The program concluded its announcement by thanking Quinlan for his dedication and expressing hope that he will remain connected to Saugus girls lacrosse in the future.

“We will miss you and hope you come back to visit often,” the post stated.

Saugus also teased upcoming news about the program’s future, saying that coaching announcements for next season are expected soon.

  1. Now if we could just get Kevin Berns to step down as coach of Cross Country. Most worthless coach in history. He failed at Valencia. And he failed at Saugus.
