On senior night, the Valencia Vikings (8-1, 5-0) dominated Hart (7-3, 5-1) to secure their third consecutive Foothill League title.
The Vikings put on a commanding performance, holding Hart scoreless until the final drive of the game, when Jacob Paisano connected with Joshua Wagner for the Hawks’ lone touchdown.
Valencia Head Coach Larry Muir praised his team’s complete effort, calling it “Viking football.”
“We talked all week about playing four quarters of football and our guys played really well all night long,” said Muir. “All night long, they were intense and they were very focused on what they wanted to accomplish.”
One of the standout performers was senior Ellias Holloway, who shined on both sides of the ball. Holloway locked down receivers in the secondary with multiple pass deflections and opened Valencia’s scoring with a 46-yard touchdown reception from Brady Bretthauer.
“[Holloway] is one of the most versatile, most incredible football players; he does it on both sides of the ball and affects the game in so many different ways,” said Muir.
Muir added that Holloway’s leadership and enthusiasm are always top-notch, and he is a team player.
Two other players who had a night that Muir would describe as playing Viking football were Bretthauer and Washington commit Brian Bonner.
“They’re (referring to Bretthauer and Bonner) are the two best players in Santa Clarita and there’s a lot of good football players out here,” said Muir. “Part of that is the work that they put in each and every day here. They go to work, do the little things right and out of that comes the big things.”
Both Bretthauer and Bonner’s impact was felt throughout the game, with Bonner scoring three first-half touchdowns and Bretthauer finishing with three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.
The Viking defense set the tone early, forcing a three-and-out against a Hart offense that had been red-hot in recent weeks. On Valencia’s opening drive, a trick play set up the offense before Bretthauer found Holloway for the 46-yard touchdown strike.

Holloway continued to make his presence felt on defense, breaking up a potential 50-yard completion on Hart’s next possession. Despite a couple of costly penalties that extended the drive, the Vikings’ defense stood tall with a fourth-down stop near the red zone.
“I think defensively we fight ourselves sometimes with penalties, but our effort and our intensity I never doubt,” said Muir. “Tonight I thought they played with a lot of effort and intensity and guys did a good job of swarming to the football.”
Those penalties didn’t come back to haunt Valencia. After the defensive stand, Bretthauer dumped a pass to Bonner, who showed off his speed and took it 77 yards to the end zone to give the Vikings a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Valencia pressed on and added a field goal off the foot of Matteo Petroski. Bonner would score twice more — once on a three-yard rushing touchdown and again on a 55-yard reception — giving Valencia a 31-0 halftime lead.

The second half was quieter for Valencia, highlighted by an interception in the end zone by Caysen Badawi and a one-yard QB sneak from Bretthauer to extend the lead to 38-0.

On the last drive of the game, the Vikings’ defense gave up what would be Hart’s only touchdown, bringing the final score to 38-7.
With the Foothill League title and a playoff berth clinched, the Vikings will end their regular season against Castaic on Halloween. Hart, which has also secured a playoff spot, will have a bye week before returning to action in the first week of November for the CIF playoffs.
