Valencia Football Players Win Co-Players Of The Year; Saugus, Hart Standouts Earn Top Honors

For the third consecutive season, the Foothill League Player of the Year award is heading to Valencia, but this time, the honor will be shared in the Vikings’ backfield.

Quarterback Brady Bretthauer and running back Brian Bonner have been named 2025 Co-Players of the Year.

Bretthauer finished third in the Foothill League with 1,842 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. A true dual threat, he added 564 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground. He helped guide Valencia to a near-perfect regular season, highlighted by standout non-league wins over Simi Valley, Chaminade and Paraclete, with the team’s only setback coming in a narrow loss to Bishop Amat.

Beside him was Washington commit Bonner, who surpassed 1,000 rushing yards and scored 13 rushing touchdowns. He was also a major factor in the passing attack, finishing with 525 receiving yards and five touchdowns, second most on the team.

Valencia also brought home another major honor, as Aiden Ends earned Lineman of the Year.

The Foothill League Offensive Player of the Year went to Saugus quarterback Jake Nuttall, who led the league with 2,778 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.

His biggest performance came against West Ranch, when he threw for 342 yards, completed 19 of 22 passes and set a program record with seven touchdowns in a single game. Receiver Landon Lattimore also set a school record that night with five touchdown receptions.

Hart defensive end Josh Whitson was named Defensive Player of the Year after a dominant season in the trenches. Whitson recorded a league-high 14.5 sacks, far ahead of the next-highest total of 3.5, and led his team with 18.5 tackles for loss.
