Valencia Vikings Prove Their Might With Fourth Win This Season, Canyon Continues Losing Streak

On Friday’s game, the Valencia Vikings faced off against the Golden Valley Grizzlies to earn their fourth win this season. The Hart Indians gained their first win this season against the Canyon Cowboys.

The Valencia Vikings scored their lowest point game Friday against Golden Valley but were still able to defeat them by triple their points. Hart and Canyon grappled for their first win of the season with the Indians coming out on top.

Both Hart and Canyon went into Friday night’s game at Valencia High School with zero wins on their belt this season. With Canyon seeing countless turnovers during the first half of the game, the Indians defeated them 35-7.

Hart’s first two scores started with an interception returned for a touchdown by senior wide receiver Riley Bodemer, followed by a score from Linebacker Chase DePaco who blocked a Canyon punt and took it to the house.

Continuing the Indian’s ferocity, Freshman quarterback Tim Larkins brought the score to 21-0 in the second quarter with a 27-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Ryan Tomaszewski.

Defensive end Dylan Vradenburg snagged the ball on a botched pass and ran it in, sending the Indians into halftime with a 28-0 lead.

Canyon attempted a comeback in the start of the third quarter, gaining a 69-yard touchdown thrown by quarterback Casey Jimenez to elusive junior Dominic Burton; their first and only score of the game.

Senior running back Ryan Rossi plowed through the Cowboy’s defense for a 4-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 35-7 in the fourth quarter.

The Hart Indians (1-2-1) look to continue this momentum as they finish the season in a showdown against the West Ranch Wildcats scheduled for Thursday.

The Canyon Cowboys (0-4) have one more opportunity to turn their fumbling season around at a scheduled faceoff with the Golden Valley Grizzlies next Friday.

The Valencia Vikings (4-0) had their lowest-scoring game of the season Friday night against the Golden Valley Grizzlies (1-2-1), but were still able to continue their perfect season with a 9-3 win.

The first half of the game saw the Grizzlies score a 24-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 25-yarder by the Vikings in the second.

Both teams propelled into the fourth quarter tied 3-3, but Golden Valley’s brute defense would not let up on Valencia.

The Vikings retaliated in the fourth quarter with a score from sophomore running back Daniel Hernandez who took a handoff 52 yards into the endzone.

Golden Valley’s two forced interceptions and 190 total yards held to Valencia was not enough to take down the undefeated team.

With an incomplete pass from Grizzlies quarterback Jaxon Miner in the fourth quarter, the Vikings took over and ran the clock out to finish the game 9-3.

Valencia’s win sets up a much anticipated matchup against fellow unbeaten team the Saugus Centurions scheduled for next Friday. Golden Valley is set to verse Canyon next Friday in hopes to get back on their feet.

  1. Oh Oh, Vikings—-this name may Trigger some Emotionally unstable delicate flowers. Bring “safe space mats” & a Psychiatrist to the game. Don’t forget what the delicate crybabies are trying to do to the innocent Hart High team!

  2. Congrats! to the five football games that each Hart District high school gets to play. Too bad the streaming service sucks and is hardly worth watching. They do not even put in the names of the actual school playing and have given up reporting the score. Stands are almost empty at Canyon and Valencia High School. Wouldn’t it be nice if grandparents or other family members could also attend and still keep within Covid rules? Some coaches need to be aware of the language they use while on the field which is not smothered by loud crowds. I applaud the students and families which support their students in these trying times.
