While Monday is remaining hot, the night will bring a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms for the entire L.A. County, which will remain until the weather system dissipates on Tuesday night.
The weather is expected to be most severe Monday night, with the rain weakening through Tuesday. Tuesday will also be hot and humid, with temperatures about ten to 20 degrees above normal.
Some areas in the county will remain in the triple digits. Residents of all areas are advised by the National Weather Service to stay indoors as much as possible and stay hydrated for any outdoor activity.
The National Weather Service also asks that residents keep an eye out for flooding roads and flash floods in certain areas.

While the hot weather persists, here are some tips to stay safe and cool:
- Avoid leaving pets and small children in cars. The high temperatures are often fatal to those unable to escape an enclosed car.
- Check the pavement temperature before walking your dog. A good rule of thumb is that if you can’t stand to put your hand against the ground for five seconds, the pavement temperatures will hurt your animal.
- Stay hydrated. Heatstroke is a serious health risk, especially when outdoors or inside without air conditioning.
- Avoid sweetened or alcoholic drinks.
- Keep an eye out for heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Symptoms of both include headache, dizziness, moist skin and fainting.
