A small fire broke out in the Santa Clara Riverbed Monday evening and was quickly contained by firefighters. 

The fire broke out at around 4:20 p.m. in the Santa Clara Riverbed by the Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Blvd, according to Supervisor Ringo with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“We responded to calls about smoke. We’re currently on scene at a 100 x 100 spot. Forward progress is stopped and we have a line around the fire,” said Ringo. 

Firefighters arrived at the scene quickly and found a 100 X 100 spot of burning bamboo. 

Smoke was visible from nearby intersections and surrounding communities. 

As of 5:12 p.m., forward progress on the fire has been stopped, according to Ringo.
