Firefighters Respond To House Fire In Canyon Country (VIDEO)

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Canyon Country Friday morning, and officials say neighbors helped stop the flames before crews arrived on scene.

Around 11:30 a.m., firefighters received reports of a house fire in the 19000 block of Bruces Place in Canyon Country, said Kaitlyn Aldana, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Units reported seeing smoke from a half mile out as they were responding.

When units arrived on scene to the reported house fire, they located an electrical fire on the side of the home, said Ryan Chapin, a captain with the LACoFD on scene of the incident.

Some fire got into the eves of the house, but did not extend into the attic or living space of the home, chapin said.

The owners of the house were not home at the time of the incident, however their pets were safely rescued by firefighters and were not injured.

Chapin says neighbors used their garden hoses to help extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived on scene.

No injuries were reported.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
