The Lago Fire in Castaic broke out near the I-5 Freeway near Vista Del Lago Saturday afternoon, engulfing several acres in flames.

Reports were received around 12:55 p.m. of a brush fire in Castaic on the northbound side of I-5 near Vista Del Lago Road, according to Captain Ron Haralson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“The fire has grown to four acres in size as of 1:26 p.m.,” said Supervisor Sims with the Department.

The fire is actively burning as of 1:35 p.m., according to Haralson.

“We’ve got L.A. City, L.A. County, and Angeles National Forest responders on it, but there are no structures threatened,” Haralson added.

Closures of the 5 Freeway were not reported by California Highway Patrol as of 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
