A fire has spread to nearby brush on the 5 Freeway in Valencia Wednesday.
The brush fire, dubbed the Largo Fire, was first reported around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday on the southbound 5 Freeway just north of Newhall Ranch Road.
The cause is suspected to be sparks from construction work cutting rebar, which caused the fire to spread to the nearby brush, according to officials.
As of 2:55 p.m., the Largo Fire is at a quarter acre with no structures threatened. Forward progress has been stopped.
Traffic on The Old Road is being diverted at Turnberry Lane.
