A small Castaic brush fire was quickly stopped near the 5 Freeway Friday afternoon, officials said.
The brush fire, dubbed the Paradise Fire, was first reported at about 10:35 a.m. Friday near the northbound 5 Freeway at Templin Highway, according to Mavin Lim with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It was a spot fire,” Lim said, adding the fire was estimated to be about 30-feet-by-50-feet in size.
Both the Angeles National Forest (ANF) and L.A. County Fire Department sent a first alarm response to the blaze.
Upon arrival, firefighters canceled most units with one engine, one squad and two fire patrols staying on the incident to fully knock down the fire, according to Lim.
The cause of the fire is unknown, however, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs report there was a truck sparking in the area.
