Soledad Fire In Canyon Country Breaks Out Near 14 Freeway

The Soledad Fire in Canyon Country erupted near the 14 Freeway Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

UPDATE: 4:05 p.m. — Forward progress on the Soledad Fire was stopped at about 30 acres, according to Fire officials.

The No. 3 and 4 lanes are expected to remain closed for an unknown duration, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The brush fire, dubbed the Soledad Fire, was reported at about 3:40 p.m. near the northbound 14 Freeway, north of Soledad Canyon Road, according to Franklin Lopez, spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Canyon Country brush fire reached about one acre within 10 minutes of being reported, according to Fire officials.

The northbound 14 Freeway at Sand Canyon Road was requested to be shut down at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Fire officials said.

  1. I have a video and pictures of this fire yesterday in Canyon Country.
    People were turning around in the fast lane and driving the wrong way on the shoulder and HOV lane! Scarey !!
