The Los Angeles County Fire Department received a call around 9:30 a.m. for flooding in the 17800 block of Sierra Highway, according to Austin Bennett, a spokesperson for the LACoFD.
“Units reported water going into a nearby house,” Bennett said. “Units on scene requested a camp crew to bring a truckload of sand and sandbags.”
The Sierra Highway Montessori Preschool was also flooded, according to witnesses at the scene.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies assisted and helped evacuate two houses that were in the pathway of the water and mud, according to officials.
Sierra Highway was briefly shut down between Hillfield Lane and Adon Avenue, but was reopened around 11 a.m. Thursday.
There were no injuries reported, Bennett said.
