Richard Szerman, real estate expert and realtor for Radius in the Santa Clarita Valley, is a frequent guest of KHTS due to his real estate expertise.

Richard Szerman made an appearance on The Hometown Morning Show to talk about the ‘rental rebate’ program.

“We have something called the ‘rental rebate’ program,”Szerman said. “What it is is, if you are renting a property, we will give you ten percent of the rent you have already paid back to go buy a house. You don’t repay it.”

“It is actually easier now to buy a house in the Santa Clarita Valley than it is to rent,” Szerman said. Szerman also went into COVID-19 pandemic-era changes to the rental market in Santa Clarita, including the fact that rents in Santa Clarita have jumped up significantly.

This Santa Clarita realtor described the notion that renting may be more expensive now and that paying for a monthly mortgage may at this stage be cheaper than renting, at least in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“Rental prices are insane now, the average has jumped nearly a thousand bucks a month,” Szerman said. “You could buy what you’re looking for, and have a mortgage payment.”

Southern California is one of the most expensive areas to live, according to Szerman, and the great schools and prime location are one of the main reasons why prices have risen so high in the Santa Clarita Valley.

This Santa Clarita realtor has been working since 1990 and has participated in over 2500 real estate transitions since age 19, demonstrating his expertise and experience in the field of real estate.
