Keiry was a student in Tim Klein’s Health Careers Academy class at Palmdale High School two years ago when errant fire from a drive-by shooting in a Palmdale neighborhood struck her in the head leading to a miraculous, but long and arduous healing process.

Inspired by her recovery, Tim Klein decided to use his climbing talents to raise awareness for Keiry by scaling the indoor climbing wall at Top Out Climbing Gym in Santa Clarita 1,096 times, which would roughly equal the height of Mt. Everest.

The event was held to help assist Keiry in her return to school and asked for two things from the community in a post on the Climbing for Keiry’s Return Facebook page:

“1.) Over the last 2 years, Keiry’s life has been filled with not only great physical pain, but continuous nightmares of despair. A huge desire of Tim’s is for Keiry’s nightmares to turn into dreams…dreams of hope as she sets her own goals of accomplishment that she was created to fulfill. From our community, Tim wants Keiry to see how valued she is through YOUR UNIQUE words of encouragement, posted here on her page. All the affirmation will be shared with her and her family.

2.) A YouCaring account has been established to fund her transition back into school and life.”

Klein began his climb at around 9 am on Friday, December, 30 and continued all the way up until just after 6 pm. Not wanting to stop at just the minimum Klein pushed forward and ended up completing an additional 4 trips to bring his total up to 1100.

The previous world record for such a feat was 13 hours and 25 minutes which Klein would shatter, finishing in under 9 and a half hours (9:26:15).

Party just started! Keiry is amazing! Tim is going for it! We'll be here all day, come join us and sign the surprise guest books for Tim and Keiry!
