A solo vehicle crash on the southbound I-5 injured one person and sent a car rolling off the road, according to officials.

“We got a report of a traffic collision south of Rye Canyon road,” said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Ed Pickett. “It turned out to be south of Newhall Ranch Road.”

One person was transported, said Pickett, with moderate to critical injuries.

According to an official with the California Highway Patrol, nobody was trapped in the crash, and the vehicle ended up on the roadside after flipping.

At 2:06 p.m., a traffic break was set up for paramedics to assess the situation.

However, as of 2:45 p.m., traffic appears to be flowing normally along the southbound I-5.

About 50 feet of chain-link fence was destroyed by the crash.
