A Frazier Park man has been identified as one of the people killed in a Bakersfield traffic collision that occurred last Tuesday which killed two people and injured four others, including several young children.

34-year-old Valdemar Ajpop, of Frazier Park, was killed in the crash on Dec. 28, 2021, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

California Highway Patrol reports state that, at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, a man driving an Acura northbound along Wheeler Ridge Road in the area of Valpredo Avenue, plowed into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason, where he collided head-on with a 2008 Honda carrying Ajpop, his adult female passenger, and three children under the age of 10.

The driver of the Acura has also been identified as Richard Nunez Sioson, 28, of San Diego, by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Ajpop’s female passenger and three children ages 3, 5 and 9 years old were transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor, according to the preliminary information released by CHP officers.
