A jackknifed big rig has spilled fuel and prompted a SigAlert in the Newhall Pass, as more residents begin to return to work Monday morning, officials said.
The crash occurred at about 7:10 a.m. Monday on the northbound 5 Freeway truck route near the 14 Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Los Angles County Fire Department responded to the incident just before 8 a.m. to clean up the spill, according to Franklin Lim, spokesperson for the department.
“It was a jackknifed big rig that slid,” Lim said. “There were no injuries reported.”
About 40 gallons of fuel spilled out of the big rig, with some going into a nearby storm drain, according to Fire officials.
A SigAlert was issued at about 8:10 a.m. for the No. 2 lane of the truck route, which is closed for an unknown duration, according to the CHP.
As of about 9 a.m. Monday, hazardous materials crews from the fire department are still on scene, according to Lim.
