The black van was traveling northbound on the I-5 north of Weldon Canyon Road when it collided with a Freightliner truck parked on the shoulder of the freeway, according to the CHP report.

The collision caused the vehicle to catch fire, subsequently lighting the Freightliner’s trailer.
“When units arrived on scene, the sedan was fully involved in flames and the trailer of the semi was on fire,” said Michael Pittman, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The traffic collision also resulted in a quarter-acre brush fire, which was quickly knocked down.
