The man who died after crashing into a parked semi-truck Tuesday morning in Castaic has been identified.

Miguel Hernandez Gonzalez, 53, from Filmore, was the man who died in the Castaic crash, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, around 7:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area responded to a crash on eastbound Highway 126 west of Commerce Center Drive, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“Upon officers’ arrival on scene, they located two involved vehicles with major damage,” Burgos-Lopez said. “A white Ford Focus was located on its side and the driver was unresponsive.”

firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department extracted Gonzalez from the vehicle.

Fire department personnel pronounced  Gonzalez deceased on scene.

The additional involved vehicle, a 2024 Freightliner, was unoccupied at the time of the crash and was stopped on the right shoulder.

“Preliminary information indicates the driver lost control of the vehicle on the rain-soaked roadway, struck a soundwall and a stopped semi-truck. Tragically the driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. We want to remind motorists to slow down and drive with extra caution during wet weather conditions,” said Lt. Yochim, acting CHP Newhall Area Commander.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation.

Traffic was not affected during this investigation.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
