UPDATE: Motorcycle Crash Sends Three To Hospital, Causes Shutdown On I-5 Freeway

A collision between a motorcycle and a sedan sent three people to the hospital, and prompted all southbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway to be shut down near Valencia Boulevard, officials said.

At approximately 12:22 p.m., officials with the California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a white sedan just north of Valencia Blvd.

The motorcyclist was reportedly “down in the lanes,” according to CHP traffic logs.

Units with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched, and California Highway Patrol officers shut down all southbound lanes on the I-5 Freeway at around 12:26 p.m., according to officials.

“One person was transported to the hospital,” said Supervisor Flores with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A witness of the crash reported two additional people were transported to the local hospital.

As of 1 p.m. Saturday, traffic was still significantly backed up, with cars backed up all the way to Newhall Ranch Road, according to officials.

The current status of the motorcyclist and the driver of the sedan are currently unknown.
