Early Saturday morning, one person was killed in a fatal crash in Newhall. 

UPDATE: The person killed has been identified as Sean Brown, 56, of Sylmar.

On Saturday just after midnight, one person was pronounced dead on scene as first responders responded to a traffic collision at Railroad Avenue and Market Street in Newhall, according to Deputy Villalobos with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station. 

“We did have a fatality at that time,”  said Villalobos. 

Two people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to Villalobos.  

Deputies are still on scene investigating as of the publication of this article.

The road was closed for several hours on Railroad Avenue between 8th Street and Market Street in Newhall.
