One Trapped After Milk Truck Overturns In Gorman

One person was trapped after a milk truck overturned off the 5 Freeway in Gorman on Monday, prompting a request for an airlift, officials said.

UPDATE: At 10:40 a.m., the driver of the truck was airlifted to an area hospital, according to Fire officials.

Around 10 a.m. Monday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision involving an overturned milk truck on the southbound 5 Freeway near Smokey Bear Road, said Melanie Flores, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

”It was an overturned big rig, with one person trapped,” Flores said.

California Highway Patrol officers found a tanker carrying milk over the side of the 5 Freeway, according to CHP logs.

“At 10:07, a (helicopter) was requested,” Flores said.

The condition of the patient was unknown as of Monday morning, according to Fire officials.

As a result of the crash, officers with the CHP Newhall Area Office issued a Sig Alert closing the No. 4 lanes for an unknown duration.
