All lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway are blocked north of Castaic due to an overturned semi-truck after a Thursday morning crash.

Around 10:50 a.m. Thursday, first responders received reports of an overturned semi-truck on the southbound 5 Freeway south of Vista Del Lago, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office.

The truck landed on its side and is blocking all southbound lanes, according to Burgos-Lopez.

I-5 southbound, south of Vista Del Lago is completly closed due to an overturned semi tractor and trailer. All southbound traffic is being diverted to SR-138. Use alrernate routes if you need to travel south. This closure will be in place for an undetermined time. pic.twitter.com/rOYwMtQ25t
