A person working on their vehicle on the 5 Freeway in Castaic was struck and killed by a semi-truck Friday night. 

At 11:35 P.M. Friday, first responders received reports of a crash involving a pedestrian on the southbound 5 Freeway at Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, according to Justin Yang, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

By witness accounts, the victim was working on their vehicle on the side of the freeway where the victim was struck by a big rig.

The victim was deemed dead on arrival by paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Yang said.

The identity of the victim is unavailable pending notification of next of kin.
