Three West Ranch Students Hospitalized After Stevenson Ranch Crash

Three West Ranch High School students are recovering in the hospital Friday after a severe Stevenson Ranch crash left them trapped inside a vehicle, officials said.

The crash was reported at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday, on Willowbrook Lane near Maple Tree Court in Stevenson Ranch, according to Officer Josh Greengard with the California Highway Patrol, Newhall area office.

“Poor choices behind the wheel of a vehicle can affect the lives of numerous people, and can have lasting consequences on yourself and others,” Greengard said.

With only one day left in their senior year, three high school students were unfortunate victims in this collision, said CHP officials in a social media post.

“I know you are at a high point in your life and everything is wide open in front of you with every possibility imaginable. Remember, you are not invulnerable,” said CHP officials.

The multi-vehicle Stevenson Ranch crash left the three students trapped inside one vehicle for almost an hour, as firefighters freed them from the wreckage, according to Inspector Sky Cornell, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“All three were extricated from the vehicle,” Cornell said. “They were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.”

Speed is a factor in the collision, according to CHP officials.

All crashes are considered a “crime scene” as the investigation is conducted, according to Officer Eric Priessman.

“There were no arrests made,” Priessman said.

The crash is still under investigation by the CHP Newhall area station as of Friday morning.
