A woman has barricaded herself in a vehicle following a crash on the 5 Freeway north of Castaic Thursday.

Update: The woman involved in the barricade has been taken into custody.

Around 1:10 p.m. Thursday, first responders received reports of a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound 5 Freeway near Smokey Bear Road north of Castaic, according to officials.

When units arrived on scene, they reported at least three injured people, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office, says when they made an attempt to speak with a woman in a vehicle who was involved in the crash, she refused to exit the car and began to place objects over the windows.

CHP officials have requested the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Mental Evaluation Team to respond to the scene.

As of 2 p.m., the no. 4 lane is closed.
