Sierra Highway is set to be closed for part of Tuesday and Wednesday near Palmdale due to damage from Tropical Storm Hilary.
Sierra Highway between Pearblosson Highway and Barrel Springs Road will be closed mid-day, two days this week, for safety repairs.
The roadway sustained damage and eroded shoulders from the Aug. 19-20 tropical storm Hilary. Los Angeles County Public Works is committed to providing County residents with access to state-of-the-art transportation infrastructure that is safe, reliable, sustainable and equitable.
Road work will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., on both Tuesday, Aug. 29 and Wednesday, Aug. 30, to avoid peak commute times. The complete closure during those times will allow quicker project completion in time for the Labor Day weekend.
The closure points are marked by signage. State Highway 14 and 25 Avenue East are available as alternates.
The closure is also shown on the County Public Works website, which also provides updates to common navigation apps
Los Angeles County Public Works plans, designs, builds and maintains modern infrastructure that uplifts all communities in Los Angeles County.
